Internationally renowned DJ, pioneering producer, and bass music bad man, SKisM's Never Say Die Records just unleashed the newest installment of its year old, yet already notoriously gnarly Black Label series, Black Label XL 3, that flaunts eleven brand new tracks from some of the filthiest dudes in the heavy dub game today: Megalodon, Truth,Badklaat, xKore, Phiso, D-Jahsta, Supreme,Dack Janiels, Krimer, and London Nebel. And, as always, to supplement the newest Black Label release, a mix was picked and created to showcase the release, as well as add extra idiosyncratic flare from the mix's honorary DJ. With previous Black Label XL DJs including the likes of Trampa and SKisM, this installment's mix was curated by none other than label favorite Megalodon, who lent his production skills to four of Black Label XL 3's tracks, including a VIP of his original track "Digital," and collaborations with both D-Jahsta and Truth.
Black Label XL 3 sets the scene for the heavy dubstep styles of 2016, as it welcomes a few new faces to the Black Label family, including Truth, xKore, Supreme, Dack Janiels and Krimer, while welcoming back BadKlaat, Phiso, D-Jahsta, London Nebel and, of course, Megalodon. While every track offers a unique perspective on heavy dubstep production, from the wonky, swaggy stylings of xKore's "Thugs on Dubs" and Megalodon & Truth's "Monkey Wrench" and the bizarrely unconventional contributions of Phiso, London Nebel and Dack Janiels to the unapologetically deranged sounds of Megalodon's "Twist It Up" and Supreme's "Reaper," each artist featured on the release does their part in breathing fresh life into the versatility of the heavy dubstep genre.
